During our outreach visits, we met bright kids who were wearing used clothes that were too big or who were coming to class barefoot, if they attended at all. Some children stay not because they don’t want to learn, but because they lack something as basic as a uniform or sandals.
In many rural communities in Nigeria, children go to school barefoot; some with torn clothes, others without uniforms. For many, the lack of a proper school uniform goes beyond a simple matter of appearance. It is an obstacle. It’s the reason they get teased, sent home, or embarrassed to attend school.
At Nigerian Women Association Madrid Spain (NWAMS), we believe every child deserves the dignity to learn with confidence. That’s why we’ve launched this project — to provide well-sewn school uniforms and sturdy sandals to children from underprivileged backgrounds.
This is not just about clothes.
It’s about restoring confidence.
It’s about removing excuses.
It’s about giving every child a fair start.
During our outreach visits, we met brilliant children wearing oversized hand-me-downs or showing up barefoot to class — if they came at all. Some children stay back not because they don’t want to learn, but because they lack something as basic as a uniform or sandals.
This project was born out of compassion and commitment — a direct response to what we saw and felt on the ground.
